On Monday night we drove to the Cobblestone District to check out the new home of Lockhouse Distillery. Lockhouse has taken advantage of the recent passing of distillery friendly legislation and have moved to a more attractive and customer friendly location with the added bonus of a bar.
For starters, the bar looks really sharp. String lighting hangs overhead and the walls are covered with various drawings from co-owner and talented tattoo artist Jon Mirro. The back bar is filled solely with New York made spirits. You’ll find plenty of bottles of Lockhouse (including their new Barrel Rested Gin) as well as Tommyrotter, One Foot Cock, Black Squirrel and Black Button (Rochester).
The cocktail menu is split into eight options that solely use Lockhouse spirits (Gin, Vodka, Barrel Rested Gin) and another three cocktails that use other New York State distilleries. The beer, wine and cider also come from a combination of great NYS breweries and wineries. Yes, there’s also a small food menu of panini’s that feature several local purveyors and ingredients. From the bar, patrons will be able to see the distillery in action as well as a large wall of various experiments and tinctures.
We’ve been following the guys at Lockhouse for a while now and couldn’t be happier to see them take this next leap forward. With a 3rd spirit on the way and more planned for the not so distant future, we think their new home on Columbia Street will be quite popular, especially once hockey season is underway. Head over there this Friday and check it out for yourself!
