Quick Bite: Lebros Restaurant

Last week my Dad happened to be in town again and I tried to find another restaurant that we could visit and cross off our large ‘to do list’. I had heard some good things about Lebros, in particular our friend Mac from BuffaBLOG told me it was one of his favorite wing spots (which I thought my Dad would love). It also happened to be one of the last Getzville restaurants for me to visit and review, so I figured it would satisfy several needs. The restaurant is located very close to Byblos and looks almost exactly the same inside, an older house that has been converted into a restaurant.

Their menu is typical for Western New York Italian restaurants, there a plenty of red sauce classics, various comfort foods and even some sandwiches. Even though the wings were highly recommended, I decided to try some of their pasta and ordered their Rigatoni with Broccoli ($14, full order). Normally pasta with broccoli is one of my favorite dishes, it’s incredibly simple and usually is just covered in garlic and olive oil. This dish was definitely covered in olive oil but unfortunately it was an incredibly bland oil and the garlic didn’t come through. The noodles were overcooked and overall, the flavor of the dish was pretty lackluster. The highlight of my meal was the salad that came with my order only because the house dressing from Lebros was surprisingly awesome.

My Dad ordered the BLT which was served on a thick Italian roll with a pile of french fries. I thought the bread looked a little too thick for that type of sandwich, but he really loved it. The bacon was very crispy and there was plenty of it.

I didn’t really get to fully experience the entire menu, but I think I still got a pretty good impression of the restaurant in our visit. The restaurant appears to really cater to the lunch crowd, we visited on a Friday afternoon and there were several customers sitting in suits and enjoying their break from work. I’m sure they have some good options, but their menu isn’t exactly that different from other restaurants in the area. If you are looking for a quick sandwich or an order of wings, it might be an OK opinion but considering how bland my pasta dish was, I’d probably look into other red sauce places in the Northtowns to get your noodle fix.

    Can you tell me where you have ordered a pasta broccoli that you liked? It is one of my favorite dishes and I’ve yet to have a non bland version in the area.

    When I make it at home, I use whole wheat pasta, a bit of anchovy paste, and lots of crushed red pepper. (So maybe I am comparing restaurants unfairly to that). But I would love to know where you think a good restaurant version can be found.

      I remember the version at Frank’s Sunny Italy being incredibly garlic-y, but that also had chicken which might have helped. I also have positive memories of Ricotta’s in Orchard Park, a pizza place having a very strong garlic flavor. But I haven’t had it in years.
