Food Porn: Carbone’s Pizza and Subs (Lovejoy)

source: carbonespizza.com

We here at Buffalo Eats have been on a pizza and wings kick for the last couple weeks.  Our tastes go in waves and a good “Buffalo Style” pizza has really hit the spot lately.  Alli and I tried to come up with a new place and we remembered that her Dad absolutely loves Carbone’s Pizza.  Located in Lovejoy, it’s not an area that I find myself in that often but it’s a surprisingly short drive from our place in Allentown.  As soon as I visited their website (pictured above) I immediately knew I was going to order something.  They have the best restaurant website I have ever seen since starting Buffalo Eats.  Designed to look like a video game from the Nintendo era, it’s very clever but also has everything you need to know.

Our meal actually lived up to the hype from Alli’s Dad and their amazing website.  Here’s how it looked/tasted….

After having La Nova the week before, we thought we had just tasted some of the best pizza in Buffalo.  So I was expecting Carbone’s to be just OK.  We were wrong.  After a short drive back to our house, the small Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza was still fresh and the cheese was still soft and gooey.  For me this is basically the perfect pizza, a little well done (which means a good crunchy crust) that’s just the right size.  But what really stuck out was the sauce had a really unique flavor, not a sweet sauce like we had at La Nova but a certain spice to it that just stuck out.

The Chicken Wings were also great; we ordered a single order sauced ‘Medium’ and they arrived extra crispy just as we like them.  They were a pretty decent size wing with a good amount of meat on them.  Even though the skin was really crispy, they were still juicy inside and not dried out.  Their ‘Medium’ had almost no spice but a really tasty flavor.  Maybe not the most amazing Chicken Wings that I’ve ever had but really solid and something I’d feel confident in serving to other Wing connoisseurs.  All together we paid under 20 dollars for food that was more then enough for the two of us, we even had a slice or two left over.

This location really isn’t for dining in, so if you plan on ordering from Carbone’s you should be prepared to travel and eat it elsewhere.  I haven’t tried their other location in South Buffalo (on South Park) but if it’s even close to how delicious their Lovejoy location is, I highly suggest you give this place a try.  It’s just another example of how you can get delicious Pizza and Chicken Wings on any corner in Buffalo.
