Food Porn: Chris’ NY Sandwich Co.

I wrote about this place a couple weeks ago, Chris’ is located on Delaware.  Hidden away behind tree’s and in an apartment building, it’s a great find for any downtown working man or woman.  Being my second visit to the restaurant I decided I had to get something different (Alli went with my delicious salad I got during my first trip, didn’t taste AS amazing as I remember but was still good).

I went with something that Alli said was one of their more notorious menu items, the Hawaiian Chicken Salad Sandwich (about 8 bucks).  The taste was great, but I’m not sure if I picked the wrong type of bread (Italian) or what, but the thing was incredibly messy.  Normally the degree of “messy-ness” shouldn’t have an impact of how good a meal is, but it did.  I was on my lunch break from work so I couldn’t have myself covered in pineapple juice/mayo.  And the sandwich was falling all over the place.

Also I’m not sure how great the combination of pineapple and mayo is.  It wasn’t gross or horrible but the running jucies combined with mayo did something in a “texture” that just messed with me.

We also tried one of their soups and got their Potato Bacon Cheddar Soup, which in all reality is Alli’s dream soup.  It was pretty good.

My second trip wasnt as eye opening as the first, but showed me that this place is a great place to go to.  A little expensive, but I don’t think I have ever had my food prepared as quickly in my life.  I swear, they rival McDonald’s speeds.

Again, if you work downtown you NEED to go here.  They have something for everyone and every waitress comes across like a NY Diner waitress with 25 years of experience.  Great place.
